In 2018, a YouTube video went viral showing news outlets across the United States repeating the phrase “this is extremely dangerous to our democracy.” The implication of the clip is that news media outlets all promote the same idea. This video became increasingly popular during 2020 when conspiracy theorists and anti-maskers recirculated it.
While these individuals are in fact saying the same thing, the explanation offered up doesn't take into account that the same media conglomerate, Sinclair News, owns the stations shown. We should expect this to happen as corporately controlled media often have a “party line” which they push out through their corporation---much like any corporation, directives come from the top down and employees are expected to be consistent.
Moreover, corporate media often runs the same stories across the country. This particular story was warning viewers of the dangers of social media in spreading false information, and noting that it was a threat to our democracy--which given the insurrection on Jan 6 2020, there was some truth to that.
